We also need to face the changed reality of the current chaotic times and the challenges of how we respond

@lughiotto.bsky.social posed us the question 'Did Trump steal our agenda?'

The European Trade Justice Coalition (formerly the Seattle to Brussels Network or S2B) recently had its 25 year anniversary

It's good to remind ourselves of our history - the shoulders we stand on and the struggle that has gone before

3️⃣ Huawei is suing Sweden for protecting its 5G network on national security grounds, seeking ≈500M via #ISDS in a 🇨🇳🇸🇪 treaty.

With 1000+ bilateral deals between 🇪🇺 & non-EU countries, most of which using #ISDS, Member States' right to regulate is at risk. The 🇪🇺 must act 10isdsstories.org/case/case-4/

2️⃣ Oil & gas giant Klesch group (registered in tax heaven Jersey btw) is suing 🇩🇰 + 🇩🇪 + 🇪🇺 to dodge the windfall tax on energy firms.

While people struggled with soaring energy bills, they pocketed massive profits, and now use private courts #ISDS to avoid paying back 👉 10isdsstories.org/case/case-2/

Example 1️⃣ Sanctioned Russian oligarch Fridman is weaponising #ISDS to sue Luxembourg for freezing his assets, demanding a mind-blowing $16 billion payout. While war victims get nothing, ISDS protects war profiteers.

Time to end this unjust system, don't you think? 10isdsstories.org/case/case-1/

Be scared. Lord Mandelson is at the centre of a US-UK Tech deal ready to be signed next week.

MPs and the public know nothing about its contents, as the government has been even more secretive than Johnson’s on trade.

But we know enough to be very worried 🧵

Great piece by @ftm.eu exposing how private tribunals, skewed in the industry’s favour, undermine climate action across the EU and beyond.

And it doesn't stop there: these corporate lawsuits are violating EU sanction policies & undercutting national security decisions. More on this soon 👀

2025 is a record-breaking year for claims filed by fossil fuel and mining firms against democratic policies – marking a grim milestone in a surge of polluting industries seeking compensation for lost profits via a secretive tribunal.

🍽️ What’s on your plate? With the EU-Mercosur trade deal, it will be banned pesticides, burning Amazon and climate destruction.

But this most recent case shows that wasn't enough. Fossil fuel companies will continue to find ways to use this shady ISDS system to rake in billions and block climate actions, until we get rid of the whole system

That's why we're campaigning to #stopISDS

The system they are using is formally called ISDS, which allows corporations to sue, potentially for billions.

It has increasingly been used in recent years by fossil fuel companies to sue over climate policies. The UN has said it risks having a chilling effect that could block climate action.

Now the investors behind the coal mine project is suing the UK in a secretive tribunal, outside of the national courts using a system written in to trade deals
