Thoughts on #COP30:

1/ This is the first time in years delegates have been brought face to face with those on the frontline. The indigenous communities are the heroes of this COP. They refused to be silenced.

This will do nothing to benefit British workers. You support workers by enforcing rights, not undermining them. This a charter for super exploitation. Which is why city boys like Farage are so happy.

Migrants must have no debt??? The whole country is based on debt. That’s what Britain sells to the world. It makes our elite wealthy. But of course, their victims just deserve ever more punishment.

The UK Government could:

➡️ Stop blocking the Belém Action Mechanism
➡️ Back the Fossil Fuel Treaty
➡️ Oppose Rosebank

Yet it has not. Its words risk being hot air without action to back them.

Globally, armed forces are estimated to produce 5.5% of all greenhouse gas emissions. Significantly more than flying. But we don’t even count them. And wars are proliferating.

Last film from #cop30. We’ve been fighting ISDS here all week because these corporate courts = climate finance in reverse. The victims of the crisis paying the perpetrators. It’s obscene. Abolish ISDS.

Our first panel on ISDS at #Cop30, with UN expert Elisa Morgera. Elisa points out that ISDS isn’t simply a rogue mechanism but is an expression of system which protects private investment over public interest. Tweaking it isn’t enough. We need to change the system.
