I really like this tweet. It's actually an admission that Democrats can't do anything, even when they win elections. These K-Hive Democrats have proven in both victory and defeat that they are no different from Republicans in terms of authoritarianism.

Trump just banned people from 39 predominantly Muslim majority and African countries from entering into the US.

There is virtually very little to no resistance against this blatantly racist policy now. Shows, how much ground centrists like Democrats have seceded to the far-right.

This is true in the United States, but not in Eastern Europe. I've seen comments from Russians and Czechs who're openly racist against even Western Europeans.

Interesting framing here from Wapo on Putin's well-documented executive isolation and coterie of yes-men. This information diet (worse now than ever for Putin) is important context for Kremlin policy, but IMO it doesn't mean the yes-men are always wrong, eg "reassuring him that Russia is winning."

You can already evenly divide certain parts of Washington and California along these lines because swathes already live in "Russian America", the pale kind with rampant substance abuse, racism, nihilistic atheism, WWII victory nostalgia, and preference for rap and techno.
idea for a new Amazon show: Man in the High Castle, but it's set in the future and the U.S. is divided between Chinese America and Russian America, post-WW3. in this case, Russian America would be the weaker side, obviously.

Best case scenario, Democrats have until 2028 to realize that trying to run Gavin Newsom as their presidential candidate is a stupid idea.
There is no "center" or "moderates" to appeal to as far as California goes. More than anything, it's independents and the "apolitical".
