She is trying to undermine the professionalism of Librarians (who have masters degrees in NC) & the challenge process that is already in place, & doesn’t know how to be a polite human being & follow the meeting rules. She was rude & demeaning to her colleagues as well as the public.

In Tuesday’s bad news, a bill to criminalize school librarians is now making its way to the next step - HB636 in NC. Tricia Cotham, the traitor who took the Democrats time & money to get elected in Charlotte & then decided to be republican, is the sponsor of this bill.

Book Peeps! Why can’t I find an authoritative review anywhere or purchase from the big library book jobbers? (I searched Kirby’s, Horn Book, SLJ, Mackin, Follett, Permabound, & Bound-to-Stay-Bound)

5. So for my educator friends, when you’re feeling discouraged, just know that you have already and continue to touch lives in ways that you’ll never know. 🥰💕🎉

4. I couldn’t place his elementary self in my memory’s eye until I’d pulled away, but then his cute smile and twinkle in the eye came back to the forefront. (side effect of having ~10,000 students over 20yrs)

3. To say that I am proud and touched to see one of my “little people” all grown up, with a young family of their own and being generous with their resources, continuing to support kids reading, would be an understatement.

2. The young couple invited me in & as we chatted we determined that the husband was one of my students in my earliest years as a school librarian, some 20 years ago.

1. After posting on several local groups asking for middle school book donations for my school library book swap, I went to pickup a box of books from a respondent this morning.

Ended the afternoon with a progress & planning meeting with my local union’s SLMC Leadership Committee. We will continue our fight for fairly funded school libraries in our district and our state. #FundOurSchools #FundOurLibraries #KidsNeedBooks

3rd snow day, don’t wanna telework, moving in 2 weeks so I “need” to pack my house. Shoutout to Amy Hermon @slupodcast.bsky.social for keeping me company with episode 306 MS Library Essentials.

Seriously. Free books for kids from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library banned?! As if we didn’t have enough of a $hit show happening in our country right now.
🚨🚨🚨
PSA- Gov. Braun has banned the distribution of the Imagination Station books in Indiana.

For those who do not know, Imagination Station is a program started by Dolly Parton which provides a free book each month to children from 0-5.

Snow day in the South means school’s out. Spent more than half of my day holding Google Meets to offer one-on-one coaching for other SLMCs working on NBCT, mentoring newer SLMCs and exploring ways to identify & use data to advocate for school libraries in my district. 💕

Super excited to get these new books purchased by our PTSA for my middle school library. They are all diverse titles that feature characters and/or content that reflect my student population!!! Can’t wait to get them into the hands of kids.

Thank you, Senator Alsobrooks, for holding RFK Jr. accountable for peddling dangerous & discriminatory conspiracy theories about vaccines that mislead parents and communities.

Promoting racism in medicine should immediately disqualify anyone from leading the Department of Health and Human Services.

We distributed these materials in English and Spanish across our community this weekend and invite you to share these reminders widely.

Print it out and keep it in your wallet or on your fridge for reference and safe keeping. We are in this together. (3/3)

You do NOT have to speak to ICE without a JUDICIAL warrant. If they attempt to enter your home or your workplace, ask for a warrant. Sometimes they will try to use other, non qualifying paperwork. They need a warrant.

SHARE WIDELY.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.
