"A little bit of something beats a lot of nothing. Break the largest of difficult tasks into the smallest of steps and it can be done." ~Dan Millman

I noticed this quote today in the office of a principal who passed away recently, someone who was inspiring in her care for #STL kids. 💙

Good advice.

Happy Tuesday, all! And especially to all the volunteers, students, family members, staff and customers who joined us today. Here are just a few snapshots from today's BWorks activities 💙

So IG fed me a video of a cyclist video-ing a driver sailing wildly in and out of the clearly painted bike lane in front of him, and, confusingly to me, the poster of the vid goes, "direct your anger at the cause of this: paint as infrastructure." Um I think driver behavior is also worth addressing?

Road rage is out of control here.
Man killed after sideswiping car on Cherokee Street in Benton Park West, police say
Officers said that the man was driving when he sideswiped a car; the owner of that car then shot him.

Just caught myself saying to myself what I tell my anxious dog when he's getting worked up about something -- "You're OK; you're OK" -- because I am already freaking out about predicted freezing rain next week.

But it's the worst form of precipitation. The very worst. I fear it greatly

Azmira and her mom still have a very long road ahead after the 11yo was hit by a speeding driver in #STL as the 11yo was crossing a neighborhood street on her way to school. I know there are so many needs right now. Boosting this in case you feel moved & able to help. #trafficviolence #victimsupport

I consider this the most overwhelming Sunday of the year: pre-T-day Sunday shopping. You're still trying to get ready for a partial workweek to hit but also need food until Thursday but also all the right ingredios for what you will need to make Thursday not a disaster.

Thank you, grocery workers 💙

St. Louis traffic violence continues to escalate. The silence from many self-described advocates and political champions around safe streets remains deafening. As long as the profitable studies and plans and shiny IG stories happen, I guess everything's fine
Bicyclist killed in St. Louis crash early Saturday, police say
The crash happened at about 4:30 a.m. on Manchester Avenue at Tamm Avenue.

You can apply this to a lot of things in need right now — a helmet, a can of soup, a jar of peanut butter.

If you want to make a real difference, find the nonprofits doing the work, reach out with questions and consider making a financial donation. It truly multiplies your impact.

What’s the difference between these two helmets?

In this example, one helmet was donated by a generous supporter who bought it “on sale” for $40. The other was purchased with donated funds, but because we can buy wholesale, we paid just $15 for the exact same helmet. 🧵🪡

I. Would. Rather. Die.
Saw a post today that advised writers to stop writing as if a human will read it and start writing for an LLM that will be summarising.

As someone who really enjoyed trying to develop a peculiar but readable authorial voice, I find this incredibly depressing.
