I'm sure that's the logic, but basically every site that has started requiring this information is getting hacked and having that data stolen. I frankly don't trust any site with my ID and would just rather not use the site.

Also ID'S can and are edited all the time to bypass that kind of security

This is also ignoring that they actually did make a game with similar context in Assassin's Creed : Freedom Cry. It just boggles that they were that concerned enough to pivot away, and that I also agree with them that it's probably not worth the headache if your not going to do it right.

I'm a little surprised at this as well since they did touch on a related story in AC 3, or the horrible conditions Native Americans were treated in during colonization.

Granted, this is ignoring that Ubisoft probably would not do it too tastefully. Cause they wouldn't. But its worth pointing out that they expressly said that the cancelation is due to how its too divisive politically to do it.

A story about how slavery is bad. Freeing slaves is too divisive.
