Refactoring the way I was building the map makes it easier to handle depth. So I can have some cool over - under areas like this.

Had an idea last night to possibly have some small amount of character customization?! (hair and color)
I also have a really good idea for a secret using this.
Maybe the are unlockable? Maybe I make them supporter DLC? Maybe I just do a four swords thing?

Made a decision today about how I'm making the map to make it easier to have the room stitching line up. In that spirit, here is a shot of the current overworld map.

One of the bigger stretch goals I am planning is to make the game have a bonus randomizer feature. I love playing and watching randomizers for classic games.

Did a "gamejam" this afternoon just to see how fast I can make a top down shooter game from scratch in #gamemaker.

This is the result after 1.5 hours. Using only tools in the engine (and bfxr for sounds)

I still need to make it interact with the world. Working on this had me refactor my item system and it should be a lot easier to implement other items.
