If nothing else, Portlanders have reclaimed frogs on the side of the angels after their image was debased by Pepe

Blessed are the frogs, for they keep making authoritarians look incredibly stupid
Three persons in inflatable frog costumes. One of them is holding a nicely painted sign with two little cartoon frogs holding hands, below the text "FROGS TOGETHER STRONG"

They're reduced to pepperbombing pastors and priests for the visuals of protestors dressed in black..

Given American duplicity, it effectively exists now, what with Canada being granted honorary European status.

Though it will have to struggle on without Ireland for a while, I suspect.
faduda.bsky.social
Or makes sense that without America behind them, theyd suddenly feel a lot more vulnerable and in favour of joining a EuroNato

No joke, there will probably be something about the ESA and satellite tracking of drug gangs.

Nice of one of the candidates to signal their orientation by wearing a pearls in all the election posters.

Circulation isn't where it was 20 years ago.
Circulation isn't even where it was five years ago.
I suspect we are approaching the point where keepy-uppy tiktok clips have a bigger impact than thundering broadshaeet editorials.

The rate at which the Irish Times and the Irish Independent are publishing smear material on Catherine Connolly is having two effects: I trust both papers EVEN LESS than I already did, and I'm very definitely voting for her.

I would like to remind Fine Gael politicians that arguably the most corrupt politician in the history of the state, possibly Europe, is currently a member of your coalition government

Significant blow today for Stella O'Malley & her anti-trans advocacy organisation Genspect, as their spurious defamation action against Irish therapist, Leonie O'Dowd, is added to "The Gallery of Shame" by CASE (Campaign Against SLAPPs in Europe.) www.the-case.eu/gallery-of-s...

"The creatures outside looked from Gript to polcorr, and from polcorr to Gript, and from Gript to polcorr again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.”

The polcorrs really are excelling themselves at the moment.

I’d say rather that they hold a narrow range of political views which they do not recognise as being political views. Political positions are those taken by other people. They see themselves as simply holding common-sense normal opinions.

I regularly promise canvassers that I will think of their candidate when I cast my vote.

Some of them even realise this is not good news.

Oh FFS! For 30 years the icon for Microsoft Word was instantly identifiable with a W in it. Excel had an X. Easy to see. Now someone seriously lacking in talent has come up with this and someone actually approved it!

The swivel-eyed determination of Irish government departments to resolutely ignore EU legislation they don't like is the one fixed constant in an ever shifting political landscape.

An Irish solution to the problem of hate speech legislation say “Surah lookit it’s grand”, and kick the can down the road because it’s politically inconvenient.

Jim O'Callaghan tells the Dáil he has no plans for further laws on incitement to hatred/hate speech
- he has written to the European Commission arguing that Ireland has already transposed EU laws on the area. Brussels had signalled a possible legal case against Ireland in May

It would be a positive side-effect of this election cycle if this issue got some sympathetic attention.

Pretty sure at least half the country is applauding that decision.

I feel like it’s been under-remarked-upon that we now have reason to believe the Indo sat on the Gavin sorry Gav*n story for months and made the revelation with Machiavellian timing. #aras2025
