In the grand scheme of things, it’s not much money. This is part of what makes it so sad. The country’s politicians have sold out the climate for little more than a rounding error on projects that will continue for decades.

Khanna: There were two rounds of redactions. There was the original FBI redactions… and they did a second round of redactions at the DOJ. What they’re showing members now is the unredacted version of the DOJ’s redactions—not the original FBI redactions. They’re in blatant violation of the law.

It's such an interesting feature of these times that fantasised paedophilia is constantly invoked by reactionary conservatives as a boogie-man (eg to demonise trans people) but actual predatory child sexual abuse is always downplayed as a moral panic. Speaks to a deeply internalised conflict.
