When I was in college, I studied abroad in Fukuoka for 6 weeks. I talked to some Japanese people a few weeks before the trip, and the first thing they said when I mentioned it was, "Oh, people in Fukuoka are so kind." 20 years and four Japan trips later, it is so true.

I have now spent one night in Bangkok. It does not seem like the world is my oyster, and I do not feel humble, although there's a chance I was not a hard man to begin with. Will report back after night two.
