This is such a nuanced and big-hearted piece on the evolution of autism as a diagnosis, by an anthropologist of mental health who is also the dad of a now-grown daughter on the spectrum. Great reading (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2025/09/24/o...

As the U.S. Government endeavors to make tuberculosis great again, please consider preordering a signed copy of my book about our deadliest infection, its long history, and why in the 75 years since TB became curable, we've allowed over 150,000,000 people to die of the disease. everythingistb.com

Every single day you see a video with AI-generated captions and you’re like “that is 100% not the word that person just said” and the person who posted it didn’t notice the error or couldn’t change it or didn’t want to go to the trouble of changing it and that’s how all of life is going to be now

I've posted this before. Probably not here, though. Regardless, the sentiment is even more important to recognize now.

Sorry but all the fables and fairy tales I read as a kid led me to believe people would be learning WAY more lessons than they actually do

thinking about the part in watership down where some rabbits worship a hunter because he feeds them sometimes and the rabbits become domesticated, apathetic and cynical and refuse to talk about those killed by the hunter and become violent when questioned about it

Goodreads is owned by Amazon & there is an AMAZING alternative‼️

The StoryGraph is a black women-owned competitor to GoodReads with better UI in my opinion.
When you sign up you can even transfer your data from Goodreads to StoryGraph!
