Yeah, they just have similar premises and also, George Kennedy (who I know from Naked Gun) is in it. Also has one of the most egregious examples of keeping the camera crew in the shot

I could tell you about my colonoscopy..." Dick Tracy is handcuffed to me, and I'm saying "Let me guess. I'm under arrest for not working on my comics." (Note to purists: this isn't entirely true to Chester Gould's art style but I like how it came out anyway.)
