This video of Chicagoans intervening to save a man from being abducted off the streets by ICE is making the rounds on Instagram.

Community action works.

"In 1756 the Pennsylvania governor, declaring war against the Lenape, offered '130 Pieces of Eight for the scalp of Every Male Indian Enemy above the Age of Twelve Years' and '50 Pieces of Eight for the Scalp of every Indian Woman." (2/4)

Re California, "This campaign of genocide was carried out not by the military or police, but by a willing, participating public."

Whether ICE are seen as legit state agents or groups of unlawful "thugs," the settler state builds upon centuries of violent precedent, and they know it. Why don't you?

"Following California statehood..the state's first governor inaugurated an extermination policy that..paid between 25 cents and 5 dollars per scalp. At least 4,500 Indigenous people were murdered between 1848 and 1880...the state issuing close to $1.5 million in payments for their scalps." (3/4)

"Unprecedented." "This isn't us."

Please read a book. Try Joanne Barker's 2021 "Red Scare: the State's Indigenous Terrorist," to start. On pages 28-29:

"In 1703..the Massachusetts Bay Colony offered.. between 250 and 300 pounds for Indian scalps." (1/4)

I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America

The thing that bothers me so much is not the “we have to enforce our borders and laws.” We do.

It’s the giddy joy and celebration they have at the misery of people far less fortunate.

Always punching down

This is so indefensibly insane: Speaker Johnson is refusing to seat Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva because she'll be the 218th vote to release the Epstein files. Johnson swore in Rep Walkinshaw (VA) w/in 24 hours.

Johnson is abandoning his job to instead protect a convicted child sex predator

Trump and Republicans spread lies and scapegoat immigrants to distract you from how they are picking your pockets.

Do not be fooled.

STEPHANOPOULOS: The Democratic proposal is designed to prevent millions of Americans from losing their health insurance, losing Medicaid coverage, or paying higher healthcare premiums. Why are you against that?

MIKE JOHNSON: That's an absurd statement

STEPHANOPOULOS: It's a factual statement

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hold on a second. Answer the question. As Speaker, do you believe it's appropriate to use American cities as training grounds for the military, calling those people 'the enemy within'?

JOHNSON: I'm not comment on your characterization of what the president said.

S: Those are quotes

Hey, you know what is fucked up...

NONE of the GOP are working today...zero, zip, none.

And they won't be back until, maybe, tomorrow.

What fucking loser, lazy, slackers. So tell me, JD, who is at fault?! The Dems are working.

Please...PLEASE stop referring to the military occupation of American cities and the brutalization of minority communities as "distractions."
