That said, if you haven't seen Princess Tutu and can get hold of it, that's my main rec and, tbh, the biggest influence on the Therapist in Another World series. Despite the shocking lack of ballet in my work. Empathy magic, pocket universes, beastfolk, meta story powers all come from there.

I don't have one for "Unserious" Series, because that genre (Western isekai, with litRPG next door) is moving faster than I can keep up with.

And that's phenomenal, because I started writing out of a feeling that the stuff out there at the time didn't speak to me. It's continued to evolve. ♥️

#IndieAuthor inside baseball: ALLi's (Alliance of Independent Authors) news roundup reported today that Bookshop.org is expanding into the UK, which is fantastic!

They also said that they're offering indie ebooks through D2D now, which I cannot find a source for. Amazing if true! Any corroboration?

#WIPSnips "prize", cheating this time with a book that's out. I've been feeling down about this series lately and want to revisit it positively. (also it's on sale this weekend 😜)

“Of course, dear,” she said.

He was wearing a little thin this afternoon, and the pet name hit him harder than it should have. He was glad to let her finish the purchase as he leaned on the counter. The bookseller wrapped up her gifts, and after a round of thanks, Keifon and Agna headed for the street with their prizes.

“The bookseller was nice,” he remarked, reaching for something easy and neutral.

“That’s what money does.”

I shifted over to primarily quilting several years ago, but I sewed other stuff for most of my life. It was a giant bummer facing the loss of paper patterns soon after losing the flawed, but most available fabric store option for a lot of folks in this country.

I can't save the world singlehandedly, and not everyone is in a position to do this kind of thing at all. A lot of people are just trying to survive.

But that's no reason not to do what I can. It's not about being a hero. It's about sharing as I am able. That's all. /end

I have a string of small monthly donations going. I have plans for the proceeds of the Therapist series as soon as it breaks even (an arbitrary line, but see above re: setting oneself on fire).

I know I'm fortunate to not have to rely on book sales to survive, and that I have health insurance and a home. That's...kind of the point, to acknowledge that I have enough in this area and think about what I can sustainably give. Not setting myself on fire to keep others warm, but not hoarding. +

Finished The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World by Robin Wall Kimmerer. Short book (more of a long essay), but thought-provoking.

It's difficult to opine on how I can give away what I have enough of, when Bsky and the world overall are a primal scream of need. +

What's cozy-adjacent? Well, what's cozy? Not quite that. 😜

I use it for my books bc they're positive on average, but have some elements of drama, difficulty, and depression rep. I've also seen it used for books that have some violence or non-cute horror elements.
