EXCLUSIVE: College sports is now an arms race for finances with schools & NIL collectives selling off whatever they can.

From fans attending press conferences, to coaches reading bedtime stories, to "Pirate Pesto" - this is the new era of college sport

How college sports transformed into a financial arms race
Long seen as a potential obstacle for schools, the settlement presents itself as a creative opportunity to raise as much money as possible - as part of a growing arms race for cash to win recruits.

Nothing about Pochettino's approach to squad building has correlated from one window to the other - except for the idea that squad cohesion doesn't matter until you actually get to the World Cup
Gio Reyna has played fewer club minutes this year than any other USMNT player.

Hasn't scored or created a goal since January.

For months, the rule was: "Players need to perform."

Now, Mauricio Pochettino makes an exception for "a special player":

Gio Reyna’s USMNT return a ‘special situation’ that mixes Pochettino’s message
For months, Mauricio Pochettino has preached how all players need to earn their USMNT places. Gio Reyna is the exception to his rule

Turns out, the September window was not the "last chance" Pochettino had to tinker with the roster. In comes Gio Reyna and Joe Scally from Germany...
Our final roster of the year is here! 🇺🇸⚽️

25 players have been called up for matches against Paraguay on Nov. 15 and Uruguay on Nov. 18! 👇

My old building in Astoria that I had to move out of because the rent got too high and was infested with mice and roaches went for Zohran by 28% and all I gotta tell my old landlord is clock’s tickin buddy!

The kind of performance you consider season-defining come May.

Looked the part of the top team in Europe in the first half and then, after a moment of madness, showed defensive resilience needed to succeed.

An absolutely defining game for Vincent Kompany.
Bayern did it! Held on for dear life but did it!

For how great of a first half he had, I have no clue why Luis Diaz thought that was a good idea.

No clue how Marquinhos makes that error. Just absolutely astounding #PSGFCB

College basketball finally returns today😃

Bluesky's CBB activity is FAR too low, but I'll keep posting here all the same. Here's a big Starter Pack I created about a year ago. Share it! If there are accounts posting about ball near-daily that should be added, let me know and I'll share tonight.

St. Bonaventure athletic department tells me in a statement: "That report is completely false. There was no exchange, much less altercation, between Woj and officials whatsoever, and Woj is still watching the game as we speak."

Happy Opening Week of College Basketball.

Decided to do a little Twitter rundown of my thoughts on the Big East this year and where I think the member schools will finish.

Here's a 🧵 with my thoughts (* means making NCAAT):

See this right here is the kind of delusion that makes UConn fans foam at the mouth when there’s a Final Four in Texas or the year has a “4” at the end and I am not falling for it this time
it is 2018 and the dodgers won game 3 of the world series at home against an al east team in the 18th inning

There needs to be a case study on how Bichette-Varsho-Kirk-Barger turned into IKF-Varsho-Heineman-Straw.

That was a slow, leeching nuclear meltdown of a middle lineup.

This game started on my dinner break for my night shift.

Stayed an extra 40 minutes after my shift ended to watch the game, left after the 14th for my hour long trip home.

I’m back home. This game is still going.
