@MikieSherrill is a veteran, a former prosecutor, and a mom—and she’s spent her entire career fighting to keep communities safe.

We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Iowa state Senator Claire Celsi. As one of our first volunteers to step up to run for office in the name of gun safety, Senator Celsi helped inspire our Demand a Seat program, which trains our volunteers to build and run successful campaigns.

This fact is staggering.

Black women and girls need support and systems that keep them safe from domestic violence.

We must do more to protect them, and that starts with what we know works: Passing and enforcing laws that keep guns out of the hands of abusers.

HORRIFIC: Two young children, ages 4 and 13, were shot and killed, and two others, ages 8 and 9, were shot and wounded yesterday at a truck stop near Angleton, Texas. It’s unclear if the children were related.

At least two people were shot and killed, and 12 others were shot and wounded, late last night in downtown Montgomery during the Alabama National Fair. Police described the firearms used as “high capacity.”

This is preventable. We all deserve to enjoy a night out without fear of being shot.

Don’t believe the gun lobby’s hype: There is no research to support the idea that women’s gun ownership increases their safety. In fact, studies show the opposite—that women living in households with a firearm are at greater risk of homicide.

Tiara Love Tori Jackson—a 37-year-old Black trans woman—was tragically shot and killed at a hotel last month in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is at least the 13th trans or gender-expansive person to be killed in the US this year.
