The apartments are now unlivable and the residents don't have other options. They have made a buildings worth of people homeless. Can we not see what this is?
It's not even a trending topic on this app. Militarily armed men, hundreds of them, busted down every door in a housing complex where poor and disabled people lived, violently dragged the residents out, left them restrained outside for hours, stole the children and naked women.
This was a full on Gestapo style raid and it just is not receiving the kind of coverage that depicts it accurately. There is not enough collective outrage about this, and it's because of the manner in which the events are being described.
Like the reporting is so blithely passive "children were taken and separated from their parents, some unclothed." Naked children were dragged from their homes in the middle of the night and put in state custody."
In all the coverage I've seen of the horrific raid in south shore Chicago, I've not seen one mention of how cold it was outside that night, and how unclothed barefoot children were forcibly dragged from their beds and separated from their families in October.
