This was a huge challenge—capturing the 90s Image vibe of Jim Lee and Scott Williams and the era’s distinct coloring. Luckily, my amazing friend Laura Martin swooped in and added all the shiny Wildstorm/Image zazz I hoped for. Thank you so much, Laura! Squeee!

Hey, it's the week of Thanksgiving here in the states, and as such, this WEEKEND is the favored holiday of "The Horrors of Capitalism!": Black Friday & Small Business Saturday!

And AS an exceedingly small business, I have STUFF to sell! Those snazzy comics, at findingdeecomic.com

When Heidi wants to melt faces at Karaoke... she MELTS FACES! And if the microphone doesn't want to cooperate, its involvement is not required.

Let them fight, Charlie Brown.

Note the order of operations: Panel 3, I break the seal and it hisses. Panel 4, it settles. Panel 5, I open it...nothing. Panel 6, it suddenly explodes like it was shaken. I’m not opening it randomly and acting surprised. And yes, this has actually happened to me… still makes no sense. lol

A little something I'm working on for an upcoming FINDING DEE strip, that fans of 70s and early 80s comics will likely recognize.

Heidi really loves ENORMOUS jewelry that I basically don't have the energy to draw in the strip on the regular. I should probably make a strip ABOUT that eventually. Lol

In between projects and commissions, I was watching DuckTales and felt Inspired.

I'm amazed that, so far this year I have not yet had a bloody nose. Though, I probably did just jinx it. Lol

New business card for upcoming conventions, based on the 2nd series of Marvel Trading Cards. Getting this printed on holographic paper on the front to replicate the look of those holograms as best as possible.

Had a LOT of fun with this, and I may use this as a book cover at some point.

Again, the spot color was essential for this one. That said, I'm inordinately happy with how panel 5 came out. lol

Hopefully, this explains well enough why we have chosen to leapfrog Thanksgiving in favor of Christmas like Jack Skelington. Thank you. :)

It's now been a few years since I drew this and had the girls installed, so I'm used to the cold once again. That said... in the immediate aftermath of the top surgery... things were WAY more sensitive. Just sayin'. lol

Like most things I poke fun at in the strip, I’ve been guilty of these habits myself. Growing up in the 70s, 80s, and especially as a teen in the 90s, the rise of the Image Comics founders hit hard and heavily influenced my early superhero work.

Mewsikeen has rarely looked as EVVVVIL as she does in this upcoming FINDING Dee strip I'm working on. BWAAA Haaa Haaa!

WOWZERS! Bill Watterson's amazing Calvin and Hobbes turns 40 today! A tremendously influential comic that is as great today as it ever was! (Here's one of my homages. :) )

So, 1 year ago today, my comic strip, Finding Dee, appeared in newspapers EVERYWHERE thanks to Jeff Knurek and the JUMBLE! This was a high-water mark in my creative life, and I am still insanely proud and happy to have been a part of this!!

What's your favorite line reading?

This is ONE of mine.

Sometimes, the idea maker just… kinda gets backed up. And sometimes, not having an idea GIVES me an idea. This is one of those times. lol

More playing with those awesome, KraftTone brushes for fun on homage pieces. This one, my Al Williamson/Flash Gordon homage. :)
November 16, 2025 at 8:24 PM
Tricky to redraw those middle panels in my 2017–2019 style. Those were pen and ink, this one’s digital. Still got close, even found a brush that mimics the old bleedy lines. Making this served as a fun reminder that this strip began as pure catharsis, no planning, and the style evolved fast. lol”

I knew this strip needed spot color! Also, there are THREE strips this week because I’d already finished two when we took down Halloween decor Sunday and started putting up Christmas. Waiting until December would ruin the gag, so you’re getting extra goodies this week and next! Enjoy!
