Woke up in a panic this morning as I thought I'd forgotten to ask admin to arrange flights to Stornoway.

I know this guy's not talking about Scotland. I commuted year round for years, and winter days can be glorious. Clear skies, cold, fresh air

..which it does, for a second, then I hear it accelerate and the driver squeezes been me and the horsebox (whose driver had slammed on brakes) and took off.
My french deserted me so I swore at top of my voice in English!

So used to close passes in years of UK commuting, but a big fright here!

Just had my first really close pass in 5 years living here.

Approaching the chemin down to the house there is a shallow 's'bend with longeres on both sides of the road. Too narrow to overtake. Car with horsebox approaching, hear the noise of a car from rear. Expect engine noise to drop......

Sorry. I was hit and run. Smashed right cheekbone, orbit and some ribs.
Lost most of sense of smell and some taste.
Was wearing a helmet, but it wasn't touched (damage done by a SUV mirror)
I wear one, but really only to protect against minor injuries, though some data suggests helps concussion.

1 November 1882 | A Jew, Abraham Bernstein, was born in Malmö. In 1900 he emigrated to Norway. He served as a Norwegian border guard, later owned glass store.

He arrived at #Auschwitz on 1 December 1942 and was murdered in a gas chamber after the arrival selection.

They are helpful in preventing minor injuries. Mine has saved me countless times when I've walked into a not fully opened garage door.
But If I get hit by a car, I don't think it would make much of a difference.
That being said, I wear one, but it's a personal choice.
