The report finds that after a decade of broken paper promises, financial institutions are actually doubling down on credit and investment to tropical forests risk commodity companies.

#JBS has been accused of making false climate claims in a US lawsuit. A complaint was also sent Britain's financial regulator about alleged misconduct by #Barclays because it underwrote $3 blnn of JBS-issued sustainability-linked bonds in 2021 which were "misleading"

New report by @reporterbrasil.org.br‬ highlights the social and environmental impacts caused by the biofuels sector. The sector is backed by many of the same financial institutions that finance the soy and palm oil sector.

Research from Urgewald's Global Coal Exit List shows that coal companies are still expanding their business worldwide.

669 financial institutions already use the list to turn their commitments into change.

More banks should follow to end finance for companies like PLN and Adani.

@Trase.earth data shows that annual deforestation and conversion of native vegetation linked to pasture expansion rose 36% between 2020 and 2023.
#Banco_do_Brasil, #BTGPactual, #Santander, #JPMorgan_Chase, #Caixa and #Sicredi were among the largest financiers of the beef sector, in those years.

Most of the #deforestation tends to be concentrated in a small number of municipalities. Only 61 municipalities in #Brazil accounted for 50% of deforestation for cattle pasture in 2023. Focusing action on these hotspots could significantly reduce deforestation and conversion.

Despite the global pledge to stop deforestation by 2030, agricultural industries have received $409 BILLION in annual subsidies. 20m acres of forest were cleared last year as a result.
