Years of continued use has made Amitraz ineffective for controlling mite populations, putting both honeybee and wild pollinators at grave risk.

These populations are already threatened by rampant use of neonicotinoid pesticides, climate change, and habitat loss.

2024 saw the largest US honeybee die-off on record.

According to USDA, nearly all affected colonies contracted a bee virus spread by parasitic mites.

These mites developed resistance to a commonly used pesticide — amitraz.
