I get the sense a lot of people (even in media) think that the disproportionate volume of Weiss Nuzzi Douthat types is just pure classist nepotism and genuinely don't understand this is an active, intentional, very successful project to undermine informed consensus with pseudo-journalistic cack

(B) digital media cannot be read or viewed or listened to without the accompanying devices

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.

Fix indoor air pollution and poor ventilation! I often measure CO2 of 2,500 ppm due to poor ventilation in buildings and airplanes. At this level, COVID spreads easily, and brains suffer: test scores can drop 44%. Suggestions: invest in HEPA filtration, ditch your gas stove, improve ventilation.

Omg, they‘re arguing over…stolen prompts? Idk, maybe you should copyright them or something. Project your work from being stolen and reused by talentless idiots.

it might seem foolhardy for a regime to launch an illegal war of aggression in a bid to restore legitimacy it never had in the first place, but people also say that about couples who fix failing marriages by having a new kid, home invading their neighbor, and setting the whole subdivision on fire

1. This short thread is about what I see as a serious breach of journalistic ethics, in the making of Sofia Pineda Ochoa’s online documentary Greenwashed. She interviewed me for the film, but neither before, during or after was I given any idea I would be its target. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjWU...

Just ended up on the Dark Web of Facebook Marketplace, where they’re selling…foie gras? Try to tell myself I can’t decide if that’s fancy or disgusting but I can.

Truly, not trying to be doomer. If anything I think that the hope that arises out of *determination* — the capacity to fight on despite all odds — comes not from painting a falsely reassuring picture of the past and present, but by cultivating qualities that allow us to rise up and fight on.

We have a massive ongoing battle with disinformation, misinformation. AI is going to make discerning truth unimaginably difficult, if not impossible. And legacy media is doing itself no favours.
Sources I would have considered reliable 10 years ago, I give a very skeptical read now.

In my dream, I quite authoritatively told someone, “Let me tell you what’s REALLY going on”…then promptly woke up. Terribly disappointing, as I could really use at least a clue, given the state of the world.
