Would someone please build a bot that replies to every T* and E* tweet with "lol."

Yeah they're evil and gross and dangerous, they're also stupid af, but you know my generation grew up watching Ghostbusters so we're used to Zuul manifesting this way.

At this very moment things look pretty damn grim in the tech industry but: 1. You only need one job (and design is useful outside tech) and 2. As tech collapses I believe we're going to see a massive backlash to this nonsense, followed by a deep and long-term need for humans who know things. Maybe.

I mean this is typical and cyclical: no company has a graphic design department anymore (except Facebook, which keeps a propaganda office (Analog Lab) as a pet).

Someone asked me recently why all UX tutorials online seem to be about NFT marketplaces, and I’m pretty sure the reason is that’s the final year it was possible to work in UX as a commercial designer. It’s a weird record of the obliteration of the industry, like being a Vault-Tec salesman.

“As a force for devastation and harm, “AI” is a wild success; but as a viable product it is a failure. And yet despite all of this, “AI” feels like it’s just, like, _everywhere-“ ethanmarcotte.com/wrote/agains...

“Artificial intelligence” is a failed technology. It’s time we described it that way.

@naelstrof.bsky.social and I have our first stable version of our new multithreaded version of Jiggle Physics for Unity!

I am excited to be able to offer this free and open source under the MIT license. If you use it to make something cool I'd love to see!

Whatever happened, or happens in the future, if you over-stress and have it impact your life, that probably does more damage than whatever you or others can say over the internet.

If you're reading this, you're probably progressive and queer.
You smiling less frequently makes the world worse.

Typefucking a corporate slop machine isnt queer. It barely even qualifies for transhumanist thought at this stage.

If you want post-gender romance, or something even remotely queer, find a therian or someone with neopronouns and do ERP with them. You will be infinitely better for it than this shit.

Mostly what we're seeing is Complete Fucking Stupidity as A Service, the Peter Principle as industry standard, repudiation of expertise ushering in a decade or more of completely avoidable failure. Fun times. gizmodo.com/the-world-wi...

Mo Gawdat thinks the next 12-15 years will be dark, not because of robots but because of our own “stupidity.”

(Which is probably why AI dreck is *preferable* to expertise for most managers - and therefore why Altman said it - but that's a different conversation)

We don't have doctorates, nor are we pushing the outer limits of a field of study, nor are we deeply investigating the world in order to dispense trivia to middle-management. lol.

Besides the fact that my personal backchannel made of humans (and therians. and others.) is more useful and knowledgable than any algo, Sam's "like a panel of Ph.D. experts" comment completely misunderstands what a Ph.D is, why you'd have one and what you do with it.
