Hmmm... Maybe we need another movie with a quirky russian character.

Choose a brighter future with the Liberal Democrats.
We can't let Nigel Farage throw that all away by turning Britain into Trump’s America.

They are a horrific, inhumane, cruel, hate-based crime with an authoritarian political system & ideology to match.
This doesn't just justify, this actually demands we invoke Nazism & the Holocaust.
Failing to do so, I feel, would mean failing their victims again.

We learn from history not by shelving it like a historic artifact, but by seeing its relevance for what we do today. And for this, a comparison (again, this is not ranking) is necessary.

With all respect, I feel we owe it to Holocaust victims to remind us & others of them when we see the same or similar threats rising or crimes being committed.
To put it bluntly, I believe Anne Frank would have wanted, even demanded we remember her when we see other children treated that way.

It is a testament of our still awareness or their horror that we invoke them to make people today understand that the horror is perpetrated again. And with this awareness, we look at today's situation to understand it. We do not pass judgment or diminish the horror of victims back then.

People seem to have less of a problem when we compare strategies & ideology (ok, those who dislike being called Nazis do, but hey).
But it feels uncomfortable (& to me, too) to compare victims' experiences & the horrific situations they're in.

On a political, ideological, & propaganda level the parallels between Nazism & Trumpism are undisputable, in my view. Agenda 2025 lays out the plan, we watch it enacted. I frankly do not see the difference, & that's before the perpetrators' copying of old slogans. The ideology is the same.

The main reasons for our remembrance 80 yrs/several generations after the Holocaust remains to
-honour the victims, &
-learn from history to prevent a repeat.
In order to learn, we need to understand the mechanisms, & in order to judge today's developments, we must compare them to historic ones.

During Trump 1.0 & early Trump 2.0, I was reluctant to use Nazi comparisons. The crimes committed in the 1930s/40s stand out in their scope, spread, cruelty, planning. To even rank them felt wrong, they were uniquely horrifying.
A year into Trump 2.0, I've nuanced my views, & this is why:
