So also don’t be afraid to save frequently. If you save before going on missions and before initiating dialogue or cutscenes (via opening a door for example) you should be able to go back if you get an outcome you don’t like

But there’s lots of very good walkthroughs, which I recommend making use of if you don’t mind spoiling yourself a little. I used them when I first played and the experience of the game’s story is still beautiful and poignant. Mass Effect is what turned me into a save scum type player

In terms of mechanics, it’s not bad. ME1 is the clunkiest and that was cleaned up a little with the remaster. The combat also gets more streamlined with every game. In terms of rp, the cascading decisions you make affecting the later games can be intimidating.
