"We need to get rid of the ruling class." You can't do that in a society with classes. Unless you mean you want to create a classless society, there will always be a "ruling" class. The trick is making sure it is the WORKING CLASS and not the owning class. It's always gonna be one class or the other

Correct me if I am wrong but executive orders are just the president ordering executive branch agencies to do a certain thing is it not? Meaning they aren't legally binding to anyone else but an employee of the executive.

I’m in Vienna right now. A city which went from being the intellectual and cultural capital of the world to a “provincial backwater” (to quote Brian Barry) in a couple of decades due to nationalism, anti-semitism and fascism which drove away the leading scholars and artists it didn’t murder.

Don't get me wrong, nonviolent protest to enact change is the ideal way forward. I want that. History just tells us that this isn't always possible. It works when your enemies have a conscience, have empathy, are willing to listen. Right now we have people openly calling for the death of leftists.

I am watching white people talk about "nonviolence" vs. every other group talk about how we need community defense and to get armed. It is clear who knows American history for what it really is and who is going off of a sanitized version of MLK and Ghandi.

We had the GOP under Bush & Cheney charging up the word, "terrorism," for years after 9/11 with minimal and ineffective pushback from the Dems, and then it just sat there for two decades.
