[leans into frame with coffee mug]

All leafblowers churn up a toxic plume of desiccated bird and rodent poops and assorted organic detritus like insect parts and bits of old beaks. That's the miasma the operator inhales — their lungs a litterbox of the outdoors!

[leans back out of frame, sipping]
A reminder that gas-powered leafblowers are nightmare devices that are bad for you, bad for your lawn, and very bad for the environment. They fume and scream and kill the world all so you can messily and ineffectively move leaves around, leaves which are generally supposed to stay where they fell.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

I think Americans are realizing that democracy is a participation sport, and the the government is ours if we want it to be. I feel like we got complacent and hoped some other third party would do the work for us. Seems like we have to learn that lesson every generation.

The top 1% capture more wealth than 99% of the world. A wealth tax on the richest 0.5% of Canadians would allow $30 billion in gains/yr, while supporting tax cuts to middle- and low-income workers and raising money for public goods. #NoMoreBillionaires #TaxTheRich act.gp/4qNIIXs

Just saw on CBC NN that Canada has lost its measles elimination status after nearly 3 decades.
I blame this on conservative premiers who have done next to nothing during the current outbreak.
