Anyway, the whole thing really brings home how badly we are just ceding this large space of interest and public attention to enthusiastic but often unskilled and untrained (and sometimes ideologically dodgy) amateurs, when it ought to be trained classicists in that space, swinging dolabrae.

#Breaking | ANU College of Arts & Social Sciences will not face structural changes at this time. No renaming, merging, or disestablishment of areas. Change management appears to have been halted, even walked back completely. It’s unclear the impacts of this announcement on the school of music.

eventually politicians need to start advocating for criminal and civil penalties for people involved in fabricating stories to get citizens incarcerated.

or, put another way: a society that would like to keep functioning has to discourage baldfaced lying, especially by authorities

You spend all this time, reading Clausewitz and Mahan and Thucydides, studying campaigns and thinking hard about the roots of victory and defeat, the experience of war and what that means for policy and then you look over and the policy movers are strategy cheese and infantrydork.

Two pilot projects get their grand "reveals" this week.

I've been working with Uni of Melbourne and Deakin Uni to understand & utilise AI in research.

The projects used different approaches to creating transcripts from 1800s handwritten materials, from Aus & Europe.

Key takeaway from both?

I would like to know who would work in Hastie’s manufacturing, if he wants low migration. We are at close to full employment. Clearly he failed Economics 101.

Similar to the US, it appears basic economic logic is not the OZ-MAGA strong point. We have close to full employment. So if you end migration, who does Hasty think will fill the manufacturing jobs! He needs to get the dumb arse award
