Tech writer, dad, gamer, mangler of the guitar. Aggie. Too many hobbies, not enough focus.
A little Xmas music from my friend Richard.

Mucho Guitars hasn't made another one that I like as much as this one.

Chatting w a guy in the dog park who described his dog as “grey bronze.”

Without thinking I said, “Like George Hamilton.” His chuckle was delayed. “You went with a deep cut.”

George is still alive.

Trump is not a political jumpscare. Both the policies & protected status has been in the works since Nixon & the goal of preventing another Repub president being removed from power.

There's no return to the before-times, to politics before Trump. Republicans killed compromise & bipartisanship.

I had no idea the source for the sample. All these years.

And I love this channel. Like when they connected The Clash & The Police.

We had some Cleveland BBQ last night, w Eastern European influence. Grace & I split a Polish Girl sandwich, spicy kielbasa & pulled pork on a hoagie.

I picked up some good comics, incl Derf’s Kent State & My Friend Dahmer. Great artists in CLE.

@porterje.bsky.social Enjoyed our 1st trip here.

Grace & I arrived in wintery Cleveland later this afternoon, for the indie comics Genghis Con tomorrow. We walked out for dinner and then stopped at the Arcade, the 1st indoor shopping center in the US, opening in 1890. It was used for one dramatic scene in the recent Superman movie.

I enjoyed meeting @jaredthrone.bsky.social at Richmond Indie Comic Expo. And I finished Bridge Planet Nine, a good standalone sci-fi story.

When I took Penny out at lunch, she was ready for her puppuccino. That's not our car. But it doesn't matter because it's parked in front of our house so let's go, go, go!

When I pulled her away, she sulked so we had to go to the dog park to make up.

Our day at the Richmond Indie Comics Expo (RICE) comes to an end. We meet many nice folks and artists we hope to see again.

It was great to see a diversity of creators & attendees.

For all the things in your 60s, I was least prepared for stupidly erratic sleep.

Nice cover & arrangement.

"Are You Going With Me?" is probably the most highlighted song from Offramp. But "James" is probably my favorite.

For those who work where AI is used or even required (esp in high tech), do you and others feel secure in pointing out the issues with AI?
Can you say AI doesn't work well for certain tasks?
Do you feel safe to bluntly state its faults?
October 29, 2025 at 2:42 AM
I've definitely seen an increase of AI-created videos in my Youtube feed. Even if I tell YT to not show that channel, it recommends others like it, when I've not clicked on one to view.

That's where the AI is obvious. I'm less inclined to view videos from channels I don't know.

We've had many times in our history when some have played on the fear of hidden enemies among us, whether it was the red scare of the 20s, McCarthyism, the Alien & Sedition Acts.

Today, the actual enemies aren't hidden. They're brazenly, openly attacking our democracy. We know who they are.

NYT editors are so tuned into the right wing they can’t fathom something outside that frame.

But I think he does understand it and wants to curry favor with the right wing.
This guy was probably pretty excited when Olivia Nuzzi got hired by Vanity Fair.

Headed to the Baltimore Comic Con w some items to get autographed, which I almost never do. But so many artists & writers I’ve enjoyed so much will be there.

I’ll be helping my daughter at table F9.

I can’t find Thor #337 after the move to MD. It’s here but I must have put it in the wrong box.
