Enough people have remarked on me being well preserved that I’m gonna reveal my secret: I’ve had a skincare routine since I was 12 🙃

At least for my (vata-style) skin, moisture is everything, and it doesn’t have to be expensive. I go to Walgreens. Here’s all you need in the Alt Text.

1. A cream cleanser. Once you reach 30, it’s time to swap out gel and foaming cleansers (which are generally more astringent) for a cream cleanser (which is generally more soothing). I’ve used Neutrogena Deep Clean forever. Doubles as a shaving cream
2. Moisturize, with hyaluronic acid. Toner is superstition. Neutrogena HydroBoost is a somewhat newer line and my new favorite. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant moisturizer, meaning it draws moisture into your skin. Hardcore people go for retinol, but that’s too harsh for me
3. Heavy moisturizer. For particularly dry days, I break out HydroBoost Water Gel
4. An eye product. The skin around your eyes is the most delicate and in need of age management. This Art Naturals product I’ve had since college includes ingredients to look for like jojoba (the closest plant equivalent to human skin oil), aloe, vitamin E, green tea, caffeine, and vitamin B5. Hardcore people can add retinol, if your skin can take it
