Checking with China before deciding on arms sales to Taiwan is explicitly against the Six Assurances and breaks decades of precedent. It’s also a rather idiotic self-own. I edited a report on ”Chinese Reactions to Taiwan Arms Sales.” They are always negative, so of course they will be against it!

I hope your Year of the Horse in 2026 is happy and prosperous. Much love to all who celebrate, may your travel home be smooth and your family time as rejuvenating as you need it to be!

It’s not quite as foggy, but the mostly empty boardwalk and the odd light makes me feel like I’m in Silent Hill.

I picked up my little lady bud vase from the pottery studio yesterday, and I just love how she turned out so so much. I will have to make a few even taller ones too, I think.

Did a search for every conceivable person I often work with to see if they are in the Epstein files. Not a single hit. I must be doing something right!!

My own last name search result is for an email about the 1985 Melodifestivalen (Swedish Eurovision qualifier) winner for some weird ass reason…

I just recently saw this for the first time with @districtofkatya.bsky.social for a 25th anniversary thing at Alamo and loved it. I've listened to the soundtrack a few times already, really fun and wholesome and sweet, and this scene is totally perfect for V-day!
No reason other than this song popped into my head and this scene is actually a good one for Valentine's Day. I guess it has spoilers but also the movie is 25 years old, so maybe the statute of limitations has run out on that (also see the film, it's delightful)

Pottery open studio was all about trying to copy a vase today. I bought the original at the Ren Faire in Atlanta, the first purchase I made in U.S. dollars :). Copies are still too broad and stout, but closer each try. Started today w 25lbs, ended w 6lbs left!

Kom igen, pojkar! Bättre slut på matchen än hur det började…. My hometown boy Hedman with an ENG to seal the deal, but truly an eye opener of a day in Olympic men’s hockey…(watching online at work)

My @techdirt.com coin came yesterday, and it’s a beauty! Nice weight, crisp design, good size. I’m happy to add it to my growing collection of challenge (and similar) coins. :)

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance required 9,852 theatrical pyrotechnics, nearly 400 costumed extras, and a lot of ingenuity.

And yes, that was a real couple featured in the wedding.

Want to go into detail on the Bad Bunny performance? Becky is using her deep knowledge to decode it for those of us who loved it but aren’t steeped in the culture! Great read!

That was SO MUCH FUN, and some very poignant stage elements (like power poles). Man, it made me nostalgic for most of my college parties, which generally had a lot of Latin dancing…

Woah that staging!!! I don’t know his music much, but this is great and so catchy and danceable.

Star of the Superbowl for me so far was the supercool Libertas Americana replica coin! Neat idea to use that historic medal for the coin toss!

Finally back in the groove after a long long long winter break at the pottery studio. Picked three finished pieces up today - mostly happy with how they turned out! Made another robot with the last of my clay too.

My eyes rolled so hard they almost fell out. 23 million people in Taiwan should apparently have no self-determination at all… (Also, using”reunification” should by itself be a red flag.)
