Saw the car. Wheel arches and sills not too bad. Surface's rust on door edges, bootlid with missing spoiler and holes exposed. Windscreen top with surface rust and Paintwork faded. interior with a bit of condensation, but should clean up well.
But, although the engine turned, it would not start.
Going to look at at car later today. It's 1993 Rover R8 416 and although i'm a bit reluctant on taking on another project, the R8 is a car I have been wanting for a few years now and this one is close to home. Needs work, but it runs and drives.

Another rarity on the Portuguese Fb marketplace; a 1990 Eagle Vista, imported from north America in 1997 and it looks like a rebadged Mitsubishi Colt.

Whe was the last time you saw a Fiat Marea Saloon? This lovely and well equipped example is currently for sale in Portugal and it has the 2.4 JTD engine.

Toyota Starlet spotted around Porto, Portugal. Apparently these are rebadged Suzuki Baleno and are destined to the African continent

Someone spotted this lovely 1981 Citroen CX Athena in southern Portugal. What a great and a very comfortable way to do an European trip.

Hard to believe this Fiat Coupé was registered 30 years ago. A friend of mine found this car a few years ago, almost abandoned, not running, bodywork with some clear coat damage, and flat tyres. A few years later, here it is reborn and getting its classic car certificate.

While I have seen a handful of 106 Rallye in the last 30 odd years (a superb car btw) I only saw a couple of 205 Rallye, both in Portugal, in my 40+ years. This is perhaps the only one currently on sale in the UK: link in comments

A friend of mine in Portugal usually sends me links for car ads and this one doesn't disappoint; it'a. 1985 Ford Sierra Ghia 2.0. Very nice, but not keen on the period mod at the rear

The pinnacle of stupidity. Asking AI to do certain personal and emotionally sensitive tasks is beyond me.

A nice 3kg leg of lamb ready to go in the oven. I haven't done a roast in months, so let's see how it turns out

What cars you never owned because the opportunity wasn't there? Not necessarily due to financial reasons, but more due to the fact the right car wasn't available?
For example, I have never owned a Japanese or Italian car.

The Datsun 1000 was the first Japanese car assembled in Europe (around 1968, but can't find exact date) at the Movauto plant in Setúbal, Portugal. Movauto was a big plant tahg used to assemble CKDs for several manufacturers, including Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Mercedes.

AI 'slop' is transforming social media - and there's a backlash
Social media has been flooded with fake, AI-generated images and videos. But will the majority of users actually care?

Mid to early 00's is peak car era for me and a sample of that era is represented here on a pic I took earlier today on my local Tesco Car Park.

Some say that this cash machine in Portugal, was the world's first and preceded by two years the one installed by Barclays at Enfield in 1967. But was it really an ATM? Making a video about this soon

Yes, i'm posting about E30's again!
A friend of mine sent me pics of the '83 323i E30 i owned from '07 to '13. Here, i only had the car for a couple of weeks, still with the black side strip. It had PAS, electric windows & sunroof, central locking, etc. A bit rusty, but only £170 with 10mts MOT!

Facebook reminded me that 15 years ago I bought this 1986 BMW 320i Auto.
It was one of the worst kept cars I ever had; overheated, heater didn't work, suspension knocks, heater not working and had very crusty arches... but silky smooth engine and had an MOT!

This photo came up on a Portuguese classic car FB group and it's one of the many Seat Malagas from the police fleet from the late 80's to mid 90's. They weren't great as most were diesel (1.7L?) and numbers quickly dwindled, in contrast to the Fiat Tempras that went well into the early 00's
