Here’s a #sawfish in the earliest surviving version of al-Qazwini's 'Aja'ib al-Makhluqat wa Ghara'ib al-Mawjudat (aka The Wonders of Creation), Wasit, Iraq, 1280 CE.
In later versions, it was often depicted more like a #swordfish (2nd image, Iraq or E. Türkiye, 15th c. CE).
