Met friends at the 12th Street BART station in Oakland and we headed to San Francisco to check out the manga exhibit at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. This is one massive exhibit covering the medium and a series of creators. More than worth attending.

Oregon National Guard Adjutant General, General Gronewold says if they are federalized, that he will advise the Title 10 commander to utilize National Guard Troops to PROTECT protesters at ICE facilities. This is the right answer.

Not only that many of the others will be Edo specific.

#MythologyMonday today is all about favourite mythology-themed books, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to share some of my favourite books about #JapaneseFolklore and #yokai. Here's a section of my bookshelf to get started. I'll share my recommendations in separate posts.
A bookshelf with a collection of books about Japanese folklore, mythology and yokai.

My first book recommendation for #MythologyMonday is anything by Matthew Meyer (@yokai.com). His books are absolutely amazing and they feature his full page illustrations and information about each yokai. Matthew is continuously illustrating new yokai and translating the folklore into English.

Five books by author Matthew Meyer, each in the same style but with different coloured covers. Books are listed on his website yokai.com

It’s Banned Books Week (October 5-11), a celebration of the freedom to read. We’re proud to have exhibited original art from numerous challenged and banned comics and graphic novels throughout our 40 years. Thanks for your support in helping us showcase these works for all to (re)discover and enjoy.

I fucking HATE the speed that lies travel faster than the truth. Before reskeeting something, ask "Is this real?"

Then confirm that it is.

The title “Bastard chickens who don’t know how to shut up” for this gachapon got a pretty good chuckle out of me

I haven't see almost all American movies and TV shows made after 1972. I went to college and was too broke to go to the theater and avoided owning a TV so I could have reading time.

And plan that Tokyo trip to include checking out the statues and manhole covers in the neighborhood. A list of them and their locations is on this page

The Ig Nobel is incredible , one year an Indian guy won it for calculating the average surface area of an elephant and during his acceptance they had an elephant hold up a sign with the surface area of the scientist on it, they do showbiz better than the Oscars

Video: a Japanese scientist was attacked by flies while giving the acceptance speech for his Ig Nobel Prize-winning research paper that proved painting Zebra-like stripes on cows led to a decrease in biting fly attacks.
