Hooray! @authorsabb.bsky.social is *OFFICIALLY* a nonprofit, and is now open for donations!

For the last two years we've been doing all this w free tools, or paying out of pocket, & we were STILL able to get SO MUCH DONE.

Last night, @jerrycraft.bsky.social told us the story of how he tricked Kwame Alexander into co-writing J vs. K. That story makes this post even funnier! @glma-inc.bsky.social #SummerInstitute #TLSky
Congratulations to Kwame Alexander for riding the Jerry Craft Bandwagon to make the Black Bookstore Coalition’s Bestselling Children’s Book List!

Well done!

Kids are hilarious.
Okay. One kid/Harvard story.
Me: That library has every public speech given by every president, ever.
12yo: Can’t you get that on the Internet?
9yo: (mocking my voice) “That library has… a computer.”
Me: No. you don’t understand.
12: (also mocking) “That library has WiFi!”
Me: :(

Reading #WutheringHeights. Only started Ch 2 and can’t get over how RUDE this narrator is. Stopping by and expecting everyone to cater to him. Making assumptions. He is just dripping with White privilege. #BookSky

A7: My district requires inventory every year. I helped with it a bit at my middle school, and it was fun to see what is on the shelves. The school libraries are open until the last day, but book checkouts ended earlier this month, per district policy. #TLSkyChat

I have heard many names for books for beginning readers, but I think "The Garden" is my new favorite. #TLSkyChat
A4: I am so very proud that we got our new section "The Garden" up and running this year. We grow readers at the library and this is the place to go for beginning readers growing their skills.

New NF titles in this area came from a generous @nekls grant. The section’s placement sits between the our nonfiction and everybody books. Every book is easy to see with clear front-facing bins and lots of display stands. Ss were wonderfully excited to flip through and explore!

A4: My biggest win is finding a job in a school library. It has been a goal of mine for several years. A friend of mine helped me create a logo, so I'm ready to start building my brand and marketing the space when school begins. #TLSkyChat

A3: As a classroom teacher, I give my students lots of reminders. I also make sure that I check the shelves in my classroom. I've found more than one school library book there. #TLSkyChat

A2: I will be creating an End of Year report for an assignment for my practicum this summer. It's officially my last class for my certification. I haven't decided on a platform. Maybe Smore. Maybe Adobe. Maybe Canva. #TLSkyChat
