Combustion is also romanticised and it shifts with the generations. There are younger "car people" and those with rose tinted specs now waxing lyrical about cars that were new 20 years ago when I was starting college.
It's people being defensive of their choice of whatever toy they can afford.

I had it's non-performance brother, the EV6 GT-Line AWD. The chassis on that was an absolute peach. So tossable and so easy to control oversteer. That car could MOVE.

It's amazing to hear from an expert how the way I speak today has more in common with the 1300s than it does with the 1860s. What's also fascinating is the shrinking of Gaelic language in there (most likely Scottish).

I had trouble understanding a lot of the language in the 1700s and 1800s, but 1700 down to 1250 I could understand, aside from the outdated words.
