Reader of science fiction also.... author? Well, that was a surprise for 2025. Veteran.
Trans Rights are human Rights.
Sex Workers are WORKERS.
NO KINGS OWN THESE STREETS.
Pinned
A veteran being "proud of their service" doesnt mean they are proud of the actions the US Military takes around the world .

For most (at least before 2024) Joining the military isnt an effort to support genocide or inflict imperialism.

For most, its the opposite.

EIGHT FUCKING PRESIDENTS is too long to be in any appointed position in the government.
The fact that you can get jumpscared by someone with (REAGAN) next to their names when they're a federal judge who can make sweeping nationwide verdicts is one of the worst parts of our government right now
BREAKING: A 5th Circuit panel has backed ICE's mass detention policy, a decision that clears the way for the administration to lock up people who are in immigration proceedings

It's a 2-1 ruling
Majority: Jones (Reagan), Duncan (Trump)
Minority: Douglas (Obama)

God I am just realizing how TERRIFYING this is.

This man has had a hand on the wheel of my life via deciding federal court cases in various forms for MY ENTIRE LIFE.

I never once got a chance to vote against him. Have even a little say in him staying in office.

Jesus CHRIST that's wretched

Okay, after reading this three times, I'm not seeing where the 106 million figure is coming from.

Am I missing something? All I'm seeing is the 40 mill we already know about.
The idea of putting a number like this on the headline for what seems like clicks is really bothering me.
The Portland Housing Bureau (PHB) is sitting on $106 million in unspent funds, far more than was previously reported. City Administrator Raymond Lee outlined the funding in a memo Friday afternoon.
Update: Portland Housing Bureau's Unspent Funds Reach $106 Million
News of the unspent money comes two months after city councilors learned the city's Rental Services Office amassed $21 million in revenue, which went unreported for months.

Just because good news is worth celebrating:

There is now a Prep medication that is an *every six month* injection.

HIV has, effectively, a vaccination.

It will of course, be used against our new council.

Becuase fucking political gamemanship over actually fucking helping people
I think, a big thing almost everyone I've seen commenting on/about this is neglecting, is that THIS, is EXACTLY why we voted for a new charter. A new way of doing things.
And this ongoing DISCOVERY of an old problem, is a benefit of the new system, not a symptom of a new problem.

The PPB: Paraphrased, but only a little really.
"He had a gun when we saw him last week. So when he also had a gun this week, we shot him on sight."

I'll be honest. I'm really looking forward to seeing the body cam footage from the officer who said the victim raised the handgun to shoot.
Portland Police officers shot and killed a man inside a Northwest apartment complex Thursday morning.

According to police, officers tried to serve a warrant on a man who pointed a handgun and tried to shoot at two security officers last Saturday, January 31.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

A Substack founder once said they carry Nazi pages bc they "don't want to be in the censorship business." Then three minutes later said they don't carry adult content. Full stop. No further explanation.

So they *are* in the censorship business. They choose Nazis over pornographers.

I mean by their standards.. half the city council would have been biased out of being on that committee.
Prospective members were also judged on bias. Here are the criteria given to the vendor conducting the news, blogs, and social media search check:

I say this. Because even IF we somehow manage to elect someone who is NOT a republican, or MAGA et al.

The systems that have oppressed us have ALWAYS BEEN THERE. and they will still need to be abolished.
I remember roughly around 2001-2003 watching a protest at the Port of Olympia get attacked by police for the "violent" act of being completely seated.
There, seeds of anger were planted within me.

My eyes opened to an injust system I had not yet been aware of.

Its only gotten worse since then.

The world has never been made significantly better by anything less than the unbridled rage of a vengeance film protagonist channeled through the actions of the oppressed masses.

Im so fucking over milktoast bay area politics.
