I've been learning GLSL again recently, to allow for all the fun radio FX I've been doing, even if they're still kinda janky. I HATE FLOATS!! AND THE FACT THAT GAMEMAKER'S GLSL CAN'T GENERATE RANDOM NUMBERS!

the breadth of what we get now ui/presentation-wise is so rad and interesting in a way that we did not get back then because publishing a game was like 100000x harder. we're feastin' better than ever (imo!) but the stuff at the top is without a doubt full of capitalist slop rot

broadly speaking i think games are cooler than they've ever been but The Stuff That is Marketed At You is unquestionably more boring from having budgets so bloated that they gotta hit every targeted. queue every AAA game having a main menu that's just a Netflix interface

i have figured out how to get this to work, at least as intended. if jankuary is happening again in a couple of months i will absolutely stream it (threat) (actionable)
it's always such a shame when i find an incredible videogame but aren't able to get it to work quite right and as such cannot responsibly recommend it to other brave adventurers

the soundtrack to neuromancer was written by devo. from what i remember, it was actually written for neuromancer first and then later released on "total devo." most of total devo consists of reused music from other projects (e.g. "stuck in a loop" being written for "slaughterhouse rock")

saw a post that reminded me of one of my favorite things in any lowpoly game ever; the way mouth textures in megaman legends/64 often had various versions made to accomodate multiple angles in cutscenes, like in this topical semi frieren angle here.

very recently i have thought back on this post. it was incredibly heartbreaking to hear my wife distraught abt the Diffusion mod using AI for voice acting
the only reason why it even used it was out of the desire of being "professional" and it made me realize this professionalism shit is a disease

anyone def has an idea of what i mean, it don't matter what community ur in. for me i'm mostly referring to valve fans. i really hate that theres an expectation to always be on par with valve. it's kinda ruined the fun of making something unique when everyone just wants a fan-made half-life 3

Been making some new things for MeowGun. Check out this cool design @teahouseocha.bsky.social whipped up for a new⚡weapon that I modelled! The missile launcher got a new model as well!
Hopefully we can get the game fully done by the end of the year! Going to make at least one update before that.
