Bill 60 means that we will not be able to add cycle tracks to Albert and Slater Street or extend the O’Connor bike lane to Wellington Street. It’s an absurd overreach by the Ford government that will make all road users less safe and waste millions. I hate it here.

Bill 60 is very bad, and the cancellation of bike infrastructure on Albert-Slater and O'Connor is brutal. But considering the designs for these projects were completed in 2018 and 2019, they should've already been built years ago.

We're discussing the implementation and impacts of Bill 60 on transportation projects today at committee. It will cancel and delay several cycling projects at a significant cost to City of Ottawa taxpayers.

We’ve been thinking a lot about climate change lately, with more and more extreme weather 🌪️❄️🔥 hitting our community: a derecho, ice storms, tornadoes, extreme heat, smoke from wildfires. These types of events have made many of us realize we need to think about how we prepare for the future.

Under the current rules in Ontario, e-bikes cannot travel faster than 32 km/h, nor can they be modified to go faster than that.
They can weigh up to 120 kilograms (!)

And how much Transportation is hidden in the other categories? What portion of Housing costs is the garage under your apartment building? What portion of Food is the sea of parking surrounding the supermarket? What portion of Healthcare is car-related injury and respiratory disease?
Transportation costs are the second largest burden on American family budgets (17%), after housing (33%)!
To address the affordability crisis, we must create cities with abundant housing of all types (subsidized, social, coop, market rate) and make walking, biking, and taking transit convenient.

I happened to be at the City of Ottawa’s Loretta Street traffic facility today and saw the skids of oversized signs that recently arrived. Did nobody from the province think of checking with the municipalities about dimensions and logistics before they produced & shipped these???

There is nothing at all about A-pillar visibility (or mirror patches) in federal car safety rules.

With cars getting bigger and blind spots expanding, that seems like a serious oversight.
Why Did Cars Get So Hard to See Out Of?
If it seems like forward visibility has gotten worse, you’re right: Since the 1990s, cars and trucks have grown bigger A-pillars that can create dangerous blind spots.
