While the right lose their goddamn minds about a lone wolf doing something horrendous in DC today, let’s not forget that last week in the White House they all gushed over a genocidal, journalist murdering tyrant whose country financed 9/11.

It isn't a plan to end the war. It's a plan to let us regroup so we can invade again.
The plan to end the war in Ukraine doesn’t ensure peace—it ensures profits for Trump’s inner circle.

International media, you can do better than this.

"Bamboo" is maybe exotic and a compelling hook but it is too easy. The real story here is the growing culture of corruption, including a lack of accountability and oversight, that enabled a chain of human errors that led to this disaster.

OTD in 1939 USSR staged the Mainila incident. A false flag to justify invading Finland as per our alliance with Nazis. We claimed Finn's attacked us just as a few hundred thousand of our soldiers were massed on their former border.

Imagine such brutality being tolerated & excused today.

tldr Poverty line is calculated as 3x a year’s food budget b/c the calculation dates to the 60s when food was 1/3 of spending. Food is now 1/16 of spending due to other costs rising hugely, so the official US poverty line for a family of 4 is $35,000 but updating the logic it should be $140,000!
We have a “poverty trap” and it’s driving the destruction of social cohesion.

The “poverty line” is’t 35,000, it’s $150,000, and making more than one, and less than the other is worse than being “poor”.

Which is why the rage.

Those whose sole income is the State pension are living on 1/3 of the national average income. Bad enough to have to choose between heating and eating, but to expect people to starve so they can pay income tax is vicious. Everyone with an income under £15000 should be tax-exempt.

Many pensioners live in poverty, yet we're being led to see them as rich leeches on society, not doing their bit. The Government and media aren't saying that about billionaires. They're alienating a hitherto loyal voter base that has always been underserved. www.historytoday.com/archive/behi...

This is absolutely appalling on so many levels. The BBC is stamping on its moral compass and in so doing throwing away what remains of its authority.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Old age touches the luckiest of us; grief touches us all sooner or later. If grief is the price we pay for love, it's a sign of our good luck in loving and being loved. But it hurts no less. I don't know Richard Branson, but I feel for him, and all our losses to come. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
