The theming engine alone is perfect for me since I love to fine tune things, and the result is it feels more personal and sentimental. Mastodon is just as locked down as Bluesky in this regard unless instance mods add custom themes.

I might have a lot more followers here on Bluesky due to being an early adopter, but fedi still feels like home.

Ive long since stopped running my own instance there, but because I use an Akkoma instance, I can make it exactly what I want it to be, reminiscent of the joys of the early internet

I feel like Bluesky did the equivalent of making everyone just join mastodon.social which seems to have been successful. Mod issues are a bigger issue here than there. I am very curious what issues people have just joining there.
