A common question when starting GLP1s, “what do I eat?” I use MyFitnessPal to calculate/track macros. I am eating lower carb & higher protein-for muscle retention. For me, the GLP1 quiets the food noise, and lower carbs drives better food choices.

(Note: net carbs is total carbs - fiber)

Easy as a salad. When wondering what to eat, a salad full of protein and health veg is as simple as it gets.
300 calories, 5g carbs, 32g protein.
3 oz chicken (easy with precooked chicken breast from Costco), 1/2 egg, 1 oz cheddar, bacon bits, 1 Tbl Ranch, tomato, onion, greens, bell pepper

Yesterday was my hubs bday. His favorite food is Cajun so I made red beans and rice and shrimp scampi. Plus a cherry cheesecake. I ate a little of all of it. Small portions. The beauty of this med is that eating a small amount was very simple. No battle with willpower, binging, craving.

GOAL SETTING
1. Stop being morbidly obese -there’s a few steps in this one
2. Love 💙myself more
3. Eat better & less restaurant food
4. Have more schmexy time with my schmexy hubs (maybe TMI)
5. Spend less money

Goals 1-4 are all connected.

#5 is easier achieved when you eat “in” vs “out”

There is a move toward revising the definition of obesity away from BMI and more toward better measurements of excess fat, based on this week's Lancet Commission.

For lunch it was KISS- keep it simple silly.
Chef salad with lots of veg, turkey, half an egg, cheddar, ranch dressing. That’s it, filling and easy.

Super cold day today and all I wanted was soup! I made beef stew for dinner using radishes (yep, a great low carb potao sub), beef, carrots, onions, celery, tomatoes and stock in a pressure cooker…so easy!!

Lunch - tomato soup and a turkey wrap on low carb tortilla.

Breakfast = a protein shake

When I was on Keto, I felt great every day. Tons of energy, great skin, low inflammation, appetite suppression. But keto is hard to maintain, so I am focusing on quality carbs, avoid products with added sugars, and keep it to a minimum.

Batch cooking today w/4-lb package of chicken thighs. I chopped & sautéed 2 lbs in a pan, seasoned w/chili powder & cumin for chicken tacos.

For the other 2 lbs, I seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder and roasted in the oven on 375 for 20 mins. This will be used in other meals this week .

This moved me.
Next week…I start back in the gym. I’ve been avoiding it. I feel slow, tired, weak & clumsy. I used to be a tri-athlete, then COVID came & lots of others things and I stopped healthily coping and embraced my eating disorder. All gyms closed. When they re-opened, I didn’t go back.

Tomato soup and turkey Gouda sandwich.
Trader Joe’s has a decent tomato soup.
I do have low carb buns, but sourdough was calling my name. Same # calories, but many more carbs.
I chop my veggie toppings & toss w/vinaigrette and add to the sandwich.

350 calories, 30g carbs, 23g protein

When I cook for my family, we pretty much all eat the same food. I’m not making special meals for me.
For example, tonight I made a pork tenderloin stir fry. The only difference from my husband and son was they had larger portions and I had cauliflower rice instead of traditional rice. #glp1

Meal planning.
Last night I made tacos, doubling the amount of meat needed for dinner. This provides round 2 meals for the whole family.
Today, I made a filling taco salad and crunched in some of these Quest Protein Tortilla style chips.
