A Magpie contemplates the absolute shitheap that was 2025 while sitting on a snowy platform. A Magpie looks into the camera, asking itself why on Earth this idiot with a noisy black box keeps saying “ooh you are so pretty”. A Magpie with a snowy face and beak rapidly loses patience with mankind, wishing we were more like hobbits. Or worms. Or fungi. A Magpie looks at something, it is snowy and cold. It wishes I would go away but it likes that I load up the birdfeeder on demand. I wonder if it is waiting for me to die. I check in with myself and decide that caffeine might be somewhat urgently needed.

50+ mile single track ride with mom for my 38th birthday

Something that’s been giving me so much peace is the idea that we all have limited tokens of attention, so when we give strangers and trolls our attention, we’re giving them our limited tokens, depriving our actual friends.

Being good to our real friends means cutting out the people pleading.

The crested dinosaur Parasaurolophus, as it may have appeared when hit with UV light. The fluorescent body parts indicate areas of thickened keratin, which is especially reflective of UV light, even in species that cannot see UV wavelengths. The fluorescent fungi are just fluorescent fungi.
