40 years ago today I worked overtime for the first time ever. The only reason I can be sure of the date is because I went to see Arsenal beat Liverpool in the afternoon and Niall Quinn scored his first goal for us.

Yesterday was the first time in their history that Arsenal have won a game solely through own goals where they've benefitted from more than one in the same game.
They have won twelve games 1-0 where the goal was scored by an opponent.

On this day 1896, Woolwich Arsenal played two first team games: away at Loughborough in the League and at home against Leyton in the FA Cup. The team against Loughborough was formed mainly of first team players and the team against Leyton was mainly reserves.

On this day 1886, the founding members of Dial Square FC finished work in the Royal Arsenal at lunchtime then travelled to the Isle of Dogs where they thumped Eastern Wanderers 6-0.
A legend was born.
Club secretary Elijah Watkins wrote a small piece on the game in October 1902.

Welcome to Marli Salmon, the 925th player to play a competitive first team game for The Arsenal.
At 16 years 103 days, Marli is the 4th youngest player to play in Arsenal's first team after Ethan Nwaneri, Max Dowman & Jack Porter.

Arsenal have played just one game in Bruges. Let's hope we do better tomorrow than the last time.
We lost 1-6 to Rapid Vienna of Austria in a friendly on 24 May 1953.
