Even though I'm in a much better place than I was 8 years ago this is still a time of year that I endure rather than enjoy.

I read an idiot on here earlier - one of our fans apparently - calling Gyokeres a “usless fat c*nt”. Now, obv that person is plankton & best blocked - done. But it did get me wondering about Gyok & what people expected… 1/4

Fwiw, here are my thoughts:
1. Eze needs to learn he’s playing at the pinnacle now. No switching off is acceptable, learn fast.
2. We met Villa when they were good & we’re finding things a bit sticky. It happens in a season.
3. Odegaard looks on fire, Hincapie looks really good.
5. Meh! Move on.

Ok, how the hell to get through this. My boy is playing in a cup final at noon. I’m the ref. Somehow have to avoid all talk of our game & watch it ‘as live’ later. Horrible.

Don’t think we were getting anything off this ref. We looked a bit of a mess after pushing Rice back, not sure why Nwaneri wasn’t given some time in the pockets. 2 Cbs looked very shaky. But a draw ain’t bad if we win the next couple.

One thing about this anti-set-pieces sentiment towards us. What do people want us to do, just fire corners at the 1st man & FKs into the stands? We’re basically being criticised for being very good at a part of the game. Weird.

Also, genuinely heard some ‘Arsenal fans’ saying that Arteta had to go at the end of last season. We were all frustrated, but really? Give your head a shake. That man has totally transformed this football club from a complete shambles to a club competing at the very highest level. Remember it.

People on here in the summer telling me that Madueke wasn’t worth £40m & we should’ve been signing players like Kudus & Elanga instead. We have such an eye for talent now, but also for character.

At this level you get punished for not taking your chances (you get 2-3 max) & switching off for a split second. Lessons in European football at the sharp end for Eze, MLS & Mosquera there.

Timber today was - yet again - magnificent. Played his part in goals but he bossed that right-hand side. Personally would rest him now for next Sunday, but he is so reliable & has to be the best rb in the world at the minute.

Think i’ve said it on here a thousand times before, Trossard’s ability to find space in a crowded box & break down deep defences is so underrated. Such a clever player, so many times he scores vital goals for us.
