"There's definitely a benefit at bedtime in putting your phone in Airplane mode"

"What is it?"

"It's a setting on your phone that switches off WiFi and Bluetooth but that's not important right now"
My friend once wrote this about Tory budget day.

Sadly it rings every bit as true under a Labour government which is almost more shameful. Tories always gonna Tory but Labour should do better

Birthday pod (Although we didn't know it at time)

We've got...

Misery ✅

Anger ✅

Frustration ✅

Tena Pants ✅

All the ingredients for a classic RGC Pod
Happy birthday to us.

One year ago we released the first episode of RGC. We only realised that it was a year since the first one after we stopped recording.

This one isn't cheery. There's a lot of pissed-offness around

Enjoy (If that's the right word)

Feels like one of those results that a manager doesn't come back from.

Maybe limp on as there's no obvious candidate to replace him

Currently listening to the audiobook. Hearing @kathyburke.bsky.social reading it does give it an extra level.

Definitely worth getting your ears around it
Currently reading @kathyburke.bsky.social’s book and it’s so fucking good. Easily one of my favourite ever memoirs. I know this sounds hyperbolic but books like these are vital to documenting the lives of working class people. They *are* our social history. This just happens to be one of the best.

Pod recording put back until tomorrow. Logistics, collective meeting and the fact that we're still angry af is the reason behind it...

Maybe focus the aul' sermons on the "love thy neighbour" and tolerance angle.

The lad Jesus was pretty big on that kind of stuff

Newmarket MP Matt Hancock gave a £37bn Covid testing contract to Jockey Club director Dido Harding, who subcontracted it to Grand National sponsor Randox, employer of Tory MP Owen Paterson, whose late wife chaired Aintree racecourse. That's how the Tories handled the pandemic.
