20 years ago this week, Dean Rogers Govender was installed as the Dean of Manchester. We were delighted to be joined by many dignitaries from the city for the morning service.

The order of service included a hymn that the Dean requested for his installation - Beauty for Brokenness

Tomorrow's Daily Service is a delightful collaboration with the fabulous people at St. Ann's Church. Loved giving an Epiphany reflection about how Isaiah compels us to lift up our eyes and notice God's loving presence, even when under the darkest of skies

Well, it's fair to say my reading this year was quite broad, but a lot directed towards study!

Such a gorgeous evening with some fabulous people, recording for BBC Radio 4xtra's Daily Services in Christmas week. Will also be broadcast on BBC Radio Manchester on Christmas Day

Big recommend - the music was incredible!

Have managed to avoid the Black Friday sales but made use of the amazing 25% off interrail passes, ahead of a trip next year that has been in the planning for three years!!

So excited!

This ongoing toxic discourse has multiple real-life, everyday consequences

It leads to the man sitting next to me on a bus not accepting I'm from Manchester as I have 'dark skin'

Declaring, while gesturing around the bus- 'you can fool all of them, but you can't fool me'

It permits open racism

Handel - Messiah

Always one of the highlights of the Manchester Baroque season, Messiah is a wonderful way to mark the start of Advent and the festive season.

I spent a number of years as a HIV nurse. By then, the meds meant people could live full lives, but the stigma still existed. And access to preventative measures & meds varies

This #WorldAidsDay, as I lead prayers at @mancathedral.bsky.social, I'll be praying for justice, awareness & reduced stigma

Enjoyed recording this one 'as live' with the Daily Service Singers. Reflecting on the call we all have to be active disciples in this season of expectant waiting

⚠️ Following yesterday’s announcement by the Home Secretary to radically overhaul the UK asylum system, we condemn in the strongest terms the proposals made.

The scale and scope of the measures announced are abhorrent and represent a catastrophic threat to the right to refugee protection.

A year ago today I embarked on a 30 hour coach trip to Berlin. Berlin was amazing, and despite seriously questioning my life choices on the bus more than once, it hasn't completely put me off long distance coach travel!

Really enjoyed this gathering

The best bit was, as I said in my talk, the recognition that a #NetZero world can improve our standards of living & wellbeing

Not just by reducing bills, but also by sharing resources and connecting with our communities in ways that build friendship & neighbourliness
Last night was our annual Our Faith Our Planet conference. Speakers shared perspectives from different faiths, read poems, gave updates on eco projects happening across Greater Manchester and delegates even had the opportunity to participate in a quiz!
