Daniel is a Cherokee citizen by the way!
Science fiction author @danielhwilsonpdx.bsky.social discusses one of the reasons why he made one of the characters in his new alien contact novel 'Hole in the Sky' a Native American.

A sneak peek from our interview with Daniel, dropping in the next few days on YouTube - was a great chat!

Are LLMs even theoretically capable of admitting they don't know something. If so, what would that look like in practice?
"I don't know" is one of the most powerful intellectual positions imaginable.

Where you plant your "I don't know" flag signals your research question, methodology, and even what *counts* as evidence.

Current commercial manifestations of GenAI make it so you cannot even see the spot on the ground.
My biggest GenAI-related intellectual fear is about the future of “I don’t know”

Life is an act of narrative will. Often it is an act of own will against the narratives of our family, the editing that they try to impose to align it with their own mythology. How often do we long for a blank page where we can write ourselves and be the reader seeing ourself in the words.

Things are getting scary financial wise. Haven't had a commission in months & old former clients who promised me they were going to call me 'real soon' are ghosting me

I've never had a client reaching out from Bsky, but I'll try once again: please visit absurdbydesign.com to check my illustrations

The brain is the stupidest object in the universe.

Every misunderstanding and bad idea in history came from a brain.

Before brains, no one was wrong about anything.

Just seen what some tasteless twat has done to my childhood home, sold a few years ago when my parents died. TV in every room, zebra-striped sofa, large pattern wallpaper and generic animal 'art' everywhere, front garden gravelled, back garden neglected apart from the old oak, which has been felled.

True, but this is one of those phrases (like Jack of all trades, master of none) whose meaning has been completely twisted by missing off the end of the phrase

Restoring "...in matters of taste" suddenly changes the meaning to "Sell Karen the frock which doesn't suit her if she really wants it"
the person who came up with "the customer is always right" probably meant well but ended up doing irreparable harm to society
