This is clear. Stop the Shove.
Please watch this.

The Senate killed a bill to ban state regulation of AI by a vote of 99-1 this spring. Now the industry - eager to stay unregulated - and Trump are scheming to shove the provision in the national defense bill.

You need to know this, so you can help stop it.

Having no budget, this makes me feel really good & a lil like Kevin Costner in Field of Dreams, "If you build it, they will come" 🤣 cuz despite almost every industry ignoring Indigenous communities and writing us off as too niche, I'm taking this as proof of a genuine interest in getting to know us.
It's a good day to say THANK YOU to everyone reading and sharing! It's only been 7 months since I started Red POP! News, no budget for advertising or boosted posts, still small audience on socials, but sweet baby jeeberz....we're being read in 63 countries! Thank you all so much cuz this is all YOU!

If you don’t know about Frances Perkins, find out.
Our entire country owes a mammoth debt to her.
She was an amazing person. Great depth in those eyes.
In the days before Roosevelt, the oligarchs forced workplaces where substandard pay, unsafe working conditions and no benefits were the norm. We have to stop this administration.

Great piece on Trump's 'Quiet, piggy' moment. This phrase could be the new shorthand way to explain how abusers silence their victims. Keep quiet or be punished cruelly.

Heidi Stevens: After Trump’s ‘Quiet, piggy’ moment, we’re done asking why survivors don’t come forward, right?
If we’re going to become a nation that truly protects children and women, we have to stop giving a pass to sexual abusers, writes Heidi Stevens.

I think we need to tap deeper senses of how we must live our lives if we want to: craft any guardrails/regulations for AI, stop riding around in circles on that Snowpiercer train, & get off this mad-merry-go-round that Simone Weil called the giddy race for power.

This is absolutely excellent. Critical-critical work! Tanksley’s work certainly strengthens the critique of end-times-fascism that Klein & Taylor have been working on. We must wake up to question and resist the deadening of our minds and our livingness. Watch…and think hard.
I need everyone, esp anyone working in education or tech (but really everyone) to WATCH THIS CLIP of @drtanksley.bsky.social discussing the technologies infiltrating our schools & psyches and how she is addressing it with our young people. youtu.be/5mtcSL4S3HQ

The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

“Quiet, Piggy.”

"We shouldn’t forget that the president of the United States uttered those words in this moment. At a time when women were fighting for justice, the man who cut himself out of the investigation into wrongdoing had that to say about a woman who was simply trying to do her job.” —JWV

The AI bubble may be about to bust.

Peter Thiel has sold all of his Nvidia stock.

We all need to say this very clearly:

NO BAILOUTS FOR THEFT-TECH!

Expropriate their asses instead.

They stole from all of us and fully plan to burn the planet.

They owe us - not the other way around. 1/3

"We should aim for “ecological sovereignty” instead."
—Sabrina Fernandes

Best idea I have read in a long, long, long time.
I've been working since 2022 to try to form the basis for an alternative reading of sovereignty fit for the polycrisis and promoting true, just and internationalist transitions. This view of popular ecological sovereignty is in a few articles, but I just reflected on it in the context of COP30 too:
Ecological sovereignty: from mutual annihilation to true planetary longevity?
When fossil fuel expansion is justified in the name of national sovereignty, you know states have lost touch with the climate reality.

Absolute must read on the AI bailout-in-progress: apparently it's not enough that lifetimes of human ingenuity and creativity have been stolen and enclosed to create generative AI and balloon billionaire wealth - much more public looting is in store...
This week Open AI walked back a call for the govt to backstop financing for its trillion dollar investments in data centers. This was only the tip of the iceberg; a slow bailout for AI firms is already underway. Read more from @ambakak.bsky.social and I in @wsj.com: www.wsj.com/opinion/you-...

One aspect of this story is that POTUS + OLC can try to create a factual and legal alternate universe for the U.S. executive branch where this premeditated killing is somehow permissible.

But the rest of the world doesn’t have to live in that fantasy land.
