ATC has been shedding new hires for years. When they are new, they aren’t used to the money yet. It is easier to leave than endure the bs. The 10-20 year veterans can’t afford to quit. There aren’t a lot of parallel employment opportunities for controllers. The FAA is the main bang.

Some of us recognize it. There is no way the military could backfill at this point. I watched the Air Canada Flight Attendants Union bring them to their knees despite government threats. It was amazing to witness. NATCA has done some great things over the years, but much room for improvement.
